Graduate wins UK Textprint Com:on Scarf competition

A graduate from the UK’s University of East London Textiles, Aimee St Hill, has been awarded the winner of the Textprint Com:on Scarf competition held at Chelsea College of Art and Design this month.

‘I Love Paris’ was the theme of the 2010 competition, in which textile designers from 19 UK universities and colleges competed for gold, silver and bronze prizes.  The gold award was given to St Hill for her depiction of the Trocadéro area in the 16th arrondissement, with its terraces and tourist bustle. Judges said brilliant colours added to the strong 3D element of the design.

Through the competition, she was also awarded a placement in Italy working with some of the best fashion houses and silk mills in Como and Milan. The scarf, which was described by judges simply as “brilliant”, will be exhibited at Liberty Department Store in London and in Paris later in the year.
