In Part I of this report, we provided an overview of the timeline of the smart fabric’s evolution and emphasised both historical and modern materials and smart textiles applications. Moreover, a general description of smart textiles components with a detailed picture of the types of sensors and sensor/actuators was also provided.

Here in Part II, we examine what materials are currently used to create the various components of e-textiles, with a closer look at the manufacturing methods of e-fabrics and smart garments. And finally, the important properties needed for smart e-textiles along with a list of challenges that researchers and businesses have to face will be covered.
