Junior Materials Innovation Analyst



This role is focused on research, identifying and reporting on innovations in functional and performance textile materials that might be of interest to brands and manufacturers.

The successful candidate will gain a thorough understanding of the value chain of technical textiles in areas such as outdoor and sportswear, protective wear, smart textiles and other high value markets.

The role offers multiple opportunities for international travel, including presenting at key international events, while the successful candidate will contribute to the development of an expanding portfolio of subscription-based Intelligence services.

Candidates may be graduates with existing textiles and materials knowledge and the desire to develop technical intelligence skills.


- Research about innovations in textile materials and technology
- Gather qualitative and quantitative data from primary/secondary sources
- Produce analysis/reports about state-of-the-art technologies in textiles
- Conduct interviews with key industry participants to gather qualitative information when required
- Organise and manage aggregated data and information
- Produce tables, charts and analysis when required
- Work with the Intelligence team to communicate data output that is easy to understand


- Ability to understand and investigate the commercial and academic innovations within textile industry
- Strategic thinking, and the ability to identify the key issues and write about them concisely
- Accuracy and attention to details
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Analytical mind-set and highly organised
- Skills in Word and Power Point
- Adaptable and able to quickly learn the complexities of a new industry
