AG Cilander to cease operations by August 2024

Herisau, Switzerland – 22 February, 2024 – At the end of January 2024, the company communicated to the textile industry and, in the case of key customers, to examine the cessation of business activities of AG Cilander. After the consultation process that has now been concluded, no solution was found for the continuation of the entire company. It has now been decided to close the operation by the end of August 2024 at the latest.

At today's Extraordinary General Meeting, the shareholders of AG Cilander approved the termination of the business activities this year. In the previous consultation process, management and the Personnel Commission were in close contact. For example, approaches for the continuation of individual areas were examined and the framework conditions for supporting employees. "The continuation of the complete unfortunately, it is not possible to do so. We very much regret this. At the moment, we are concentrating on sub-areas under new owners. This would allow us to save up to 30 jobs," said the Chairman of the Board of Directors Rolf Schmid.
Connection solutions for employees
CEO Burghard Schneider sees good opportunities for employees to quickly find a new follow-up solution: "The Offers of vacancies from friendly companies in the area are impressive and extremely gratifying. The social plan that has been developed is designed to support employees in their search for a follow-up solution, to support and accompany. The specially set up Job Centre, an internal task force, is already in intensive exchange with many personnel departments and actively promotes job placement."
Further measures are being planned together with the various regional employment offices and a new placement agency. It is also pleasing that a follow-up solution could be found for all learners, so that they can complete their education.
