India has become one of the world’s most influential markets for digital textile printing, having produced more than 316 million sqm of digitally printed textiles in 2023, according to data from World Textile Information Network (WTiN), which was a rise of 30%. The growth illustrates an acceleration in the country’s digital transformation.
Amit Kanodia, a co-founder of Illuminati, a PSP specialising in super-wide format digital printing on textiles for Aluminium display frames and lightboxes, said: “Approximately four years ago, we recognised the immense potential of digital inkjet textile printing technology and decided to invest in it. This shift allowed us to transition from other printing methods in the market toward a more agile, versatile and ecological process.”
The textile industry has supported India’s economy through the decades. In the printing sector, analogue rotary and flatbed screenprinting solutions were used to print apparel and home textiles on a large scale. The output serviced the domestic market, but in recent years the country has expanded its exports to Europe and North America.
Kanodia said: “Growth in India’s domestic market has been driven primarily by rising disposable income, rapid urbanisation and shifting lifestyle choices. According to reports, the Indian textile printing market is
