Pigment ink manufacturer, Nur Ink Innovations, has created a water-based solution that provides more consistent quality for users of hybrid direct-to-garment (DTG) and direct-to-film (DTF) printers.

Digital hybrid machinery has been introduced by equipment manufacturers who initially specialised in DTG solutions. When the DTF market gained worldwide attention, after initially breaking through in China four years ago, DTG machinery specialists modified their solutions to print onto film and direct-to-fabric to boost revenues.

However, Nur Ink recognised that most hybrid solutions use DTG pigment inks, which do not perform well on film.

Eliav Priel, the Israel-based company’s head of business development, said it has responded quickly to the growth of the DTF market and has acted swiftly to create its new pigment ink for DTF and DTG printing.  

He said the product’s unique selling point is its ability to perform to an equal standard on film and fabric and, by enabling this, Nur Ink intends to plug a gap in the market. During WTiN’s recent Innovate: Direct-To-Film Printing conference, DuPont – a leading manufacturer of ink for digital roll-to-roll textile printing and digital garment decoration – revealed its pigment inks can be used in hybrid machines but it has developed separate formulas for DTF and DTG printing.
