Alliance for Water Stewardship Gold Certification

Faisalabad, Pakistan – 1 October, 2024 – Interloop Limited, a leader in sustainable apparel manufacturing, announces that its Lahore facilities—LEED Platinum Denim Plant and Hosiery Plant 3—have earned the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) Gold Certification. This achievement makes Interloop the only company in the global textile industry to hold this certification.
The AWS Standard is a globally recognised framework for improving water sustainability. It guides facilities and other water-using sites in understanding water use, impacts, and sustainable watershed management.
To tackle shared water challenges, Interloop is implementing the AWS Standard with a focus on reducing its water footprint and promoting water conservation. Initiatives include good water governance, maintaining a sustainable water balance, and protecting key water-related areas.

Interloop’s water stewardship initiatives include:
- Nanobubble tech cuts 90% water, 71% chemicals, and 50% energy
- UP System in denim uses 70% less water vs. traditional washing
- Reuse of water from chemical auto-dosing saves 8000 litres/day
- Water recirculation in spray booths conserves 4800 litres/day
- WASH Programme: Clean water, sanitation, and hygiene at Rosa Girls School
- Drinking Water Plant for the community at Social Security Hospital
“We’re continuously improving our water efficiency across facilities and managing waste properly,” said Head of Sustainability & Chemical Management, Muhammad Fauz ul Azeem. “Our Effluent Treatment Plants operate 24/7 to keep our wastewater up to ZDHC standards.”
