US-based technology company Tersus Solutions is positioning itself as the backbone of recommerce; currently enabling over 25 brands, including The North Face, Patagonia, Acr’teryx and New Balance to embrace resale and the circular economy.
Offering the world’s “most advanced” liquid carbon dioxide (LCO2)-based waterless cleaning technology, alongside textile reclamation and resale logistics services, the Colorado company provides services for textile sectors including outdoorwear, athletic, footwear, apparel, and luxury, plus PPE for firefighter, law enforcement and military industries.
Founded in 2009, Tersus is utilising recycled CO2 to deliver cleaner and longer lasting garments. The technology originated from the US military where they were cleaning articles such as body armour, ballistic missile parts and uniforms. Tersus’ founder Steve Madsen bought a version of this for his dry cleaner, but it didn’t perform well so he remanufactured it and in doing so was able to patent the technology.
