
A new Robotics Living Lab (RoLL) is set to open at Manchester Fashion Institute. Abigail Turner finds out why this is essential for the UK’s textile manufacturing industry.
The Robotics Living Lab (RoLL) at Manchester Fashion Institute will open its doors on 13 February.
The project was greenlit by Manchester City Council at the beginning of 2024, advancing the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) funded project for sustainable fashion research using robotics.
AHRC awarded £3.8m to the new facility, which will support collaboration and make use of robotic technologies with a focus on creating high-value, low-volume fashion production in the UK.
