Battaramulla, Sri Lanka – 3 November, 2025 - MAS Holdings, South Asia’s largest apparel tech company, today unveiled its refreshed Plan for Change, a bold roadmap to reshape the future of apparel. The Plan for Change 2030 is MAS’ company-wide sustainability strategy, building on the momentum of the 2025 Plan for Change, which was established in 2020.

Having made significant progress against its 2025 goals, MAS has now set even more ambitious targets, signalling a decisive step forward in leading change within the apparel industry. Included in the Plan’s objectives are new measures to meet the urgency of climate, social, and industry-wide challenges. This measurable framework is aligned to three focus areas: Product, Lives, and Planet, and functions as a long-term business transformation strategy that applies the same rigor as MAS’ core operations.

Achievements over the last five years have been diverse and expansive, including notable investments made in circularity such as with HeiQ AeoniQ™ and Ambercycle, being recognised for work in the space of Persons with Disabilities by Zero Project Awards 2025 and for efforts to further diversity, equity and inclusion by the Reuters Responsible Business Awards in 2022, and meeting the target of restoring 25,000 acres of biodiversity as well as the recent approval from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) of MAS’s near-term emissions reduction targets and a commitment to reach net-zero in 2048, ahead of the global 2050 benchmark.

But knowing that there is still much to accomplish, MAS has adopted two key approaches in the evolution of the Plan for Change: building and refining what has been successful, and entering new areas of focus.

MAS’ topline commitment within the Plan for Change is that 75% of company revenue will be generated from sustainable products by 2030, an increase of 25% from the 2025 target. With 70% of its workforce being women, and operations being spread across geographies, new commitments priorities addressing women’s disproportionate care responsibility by providing support for childcare and eldercare, while emphasising climate adaptation in vulnerable communities.

MAS’ supply chain initiatives will target Scope 3 emissions and deepen traceability. On biodiversity, MAS will be aligning to the globally recognised Science Based Targets for Nature, ensuring accountability, setting clear ecological boundaries, and transparently tracking impact beyond its own operations.

Chief Executive Officer at MAS Holdings, Suren Fernando stated, “During the good times and the hard times, doing the right thing has been a principled, strategic choice that has been championed by our shareholders and senior leadership. The fact that our business strategy and sustainability strategy have always been intrinsically linked has been a prominent contributing factor leading to our success as well as many other peers in our industry.”

“Stemming from that belief, the MAS Plan for Change 2030 reflects our responsibility to go further, faster,” added Nemanthie Kooragamage, Director Group Sustainable Business at MAS Holdings. “This plan is built on the same discipline we apply to our core business strategies, guided by science and informed by emerging risks. By embedding future-focused thinking into everything we do, we are committing to measurable action that will transform how products are made, how lives are strengthened, and how the planet is restored.”

1. Product: Create Future-Fit Apparel
MAS has long believed that product innovation and responsible sourcing can be essential levers for changing how products are made. Now, by targeting 75% of the company’s revenue to come from sustainable products by 2030, MAS is committing to transform not just what it makes, but also positively influence the value chain.

  • Textile-to-textile Circularity: By investing in textile-to-textile recycling and closed-loop solutions, MAS is tackling one of fashion’s biggest barriers: reducing waste at the end of a garment’s life.
  • Materials of the Future: MAS will accelerate the adoption of high-performance textiles from non-finite resources, proving that sustainable materials can meet and exceed the expectations of global brands and consumers.
  • Natural Fibres: By increasing use of regeneratively grown natural fibres, MAS ensures that fashion can give back to the land, not just take from it.

2. Lives: Build Resilient Lives
With over 70% of its workforce comprising women, MAS has consistently recognised that empowering women and supporting its communities are not just social commitments, but business imperatives. By 2030, MAS aims to go further in its efforts to support the empowerment and wellbeing of its people and communities:

  • Fair Care Responsibility: Enable an equal playing field for women by addressing their disproportionate care responsibility.
  • Wellbeing: Furthering holistic wellbeing efforts, to ensure employees thrive both inside and outside the workplace.
  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: Strengthen diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring all employees feel they belong and can thrive.
  • Community: Expand community resilience through education, infrastructure, and adaptation programs that support local economies.

3. Planet: Regenerate Our World
As a company based across geographies that are subject to the impacts of climate change, MAS has witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of environmental degradation. Building on its 2025 KPIs, MAS is now setting its sights even higher for 2030.

  • Climate & Emissions: Reduce absolute greenhouse gases by 80% across its operations while influencing 46.2% Scope 3 reduction from a 2019 baseline.
  • Circular Waste Management: Maximise reuse and value recovery of non-hazardous waste.
  • Responsible Chemistry: Eliminating harmful substances to protect workers, consumers and ecosystems.
  • Water Stewardship: Ensure water availability for both manufacturing and local communities.
  • Ecosystem Regeneration: restoring habitats well beyond MAS’ operational footprint, a commitment already demonstrated by its reforestation and biodiversity projects across its geographies, including Sri Lanka, Kenya and Indonesia.

The Plan for Change is intentionally grounded in a formal, science-informed approach, ensuring clear and measurable commitments. Development of the strategy was led by a cross-functional team, and has helped identify clear, measurable commitments to create alignment across the organisation. With the 2030 version of its Plan for Change, MAS continues on its journey of ethical manufacturing, demonstrating that responsible business practices and operational excellence can coexist, transforming the company, the industry, communities, and the world around it.
