Summary

Decarbonising the textile supply chain is paramount, as noted by the Apparel Impact Institute (Aii). Although efforts are often framed as a cost and compliance burden, in practice many of the most effective measures can reduce emissions while improving operational efficiency and cutting energy costs. The challenge, says Interloop, is turning opportunity into action: implementing improvements within manufacturing operations, building the right partnerships and finding approaches that can be scaled. This session brings together perspectives from a brand, manufacturer and implementing partner – Target, Interloop and Aii, respectively – to examine what effective supplier engagement looks like, from on-the-ground facility improvements to broader strategies across the value chain. Drawing on experiences including the Clean by Design programme involving all three companies, the panellists will explore what makes collaborative decarbonisation programmes work, how successful approaches can be replicated, and how the practical constraints facing industry can be navigated to turn climate commitments into measurable outcomes.
