The fifth sale of the 2018 winter season took place on 6 November with 83,438 kg on offer and 93.8% of the offering sold.
The offering generally consisted of shorter hair with a lower clean yield percentage than the previous sale. Although the sale started off slowly, competition improved later in the sale, with all buyers competing actively, especially for some of the excellent individual clips on
offer, which resulted in a highest price of R512.20 p/kg for a bale of super style 25 micron kid mohair.
The average price closed marginally down by 1% from the previous sale on R286.05 p/kg, mainly due to the lower price levels achieved for the outsorts.
With limited quantities available for the rest of the season, buyers are seeking to secure their stock positions, as current demand remains at good levels.
Compared to the previous sale, prices were as follows: Kids (winter) unchanged. Young Goats (winter) down 1%. Fine Adults unchanged. Strong Adults unchanged. Average down 1%.
