The New Zealand wool market saw limited competition, with pressure mostly from Europe and the United Kingdom. Sales at North Island saw only 6,200 bales on offer, of which 79% were cleared.
The selection consisted of mainly good/average style fleece and shears – 35.0 to 40.0 microns, some crossbred hoggets good style – 32-35 microns, and a small selection of associated oddments and miscellaneous types.

Fleece wool and good style crossbred fleece were in buyers’ favour, while average style crossbred fleece lots were very firm. Second shears good style lots were in buyers’ favour, while average style lots were very firm. Oddments of all descriptions were up to 5% dearer.
The next auction will be held on 26 September, only in South Island, which is expected to sell around 11,200 bales.
