Hohenstein, a test laboratory and research institute in Germany, has announced it is joining the ZDHC Roadmap to Zero programme.
By joining the programme, the organisation will help to support the Roadmap’s vision of widespread implementation of sustainable chemistry, driving innovations and best practices in textile, apparel and footwear industries to protect consumers, workers and the environment.
Hohenstein commits to working collaboratively on this task and towards the milestones set in the programme’s Joint Roadmap through active engagement with other brands, retailers and stakeholders.
The ZDHC Roadmap to Zero Programme takes a holistic approach to tackling the issue of hazardous chemicals in the global textile, leather and footwear value chain.
The goal is to eliminate the use of priority hazardous chemicals by focusing on the following areas: Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (MRSL) & Conformity Guidance, Wastewater Quality, Audit Protocol, Research, Data and Disclosure, and Training.
More than 20 brands are working together to drive industry-wide change in responsible chemical management and commits to working on this task in a collaborative and open manner. Brands already on board include adidas, Burberry and H&M.
