OKI Europe (UK & Ireland) has launched a dedicated database for ColorPainter users, with over 14,000 media profiles, giving registered users fast, free access to accurate media and colour management settings and unlocking new revenue opportunities for graphic arts businesses and creative organisations, according to the company.

Developed by OKI in conjunction with leading media brands, registered ColorPainter users can download unlimited profiles from the platform, significantly cutting time and costs for dealers, distributors and business users by removing the need to create new, bespoke profiles. In addition to the current ColorPainter portfolio, media profiles are also available for older devices and different RIP software, including ONYX and Caldera, the company says.

Once registered, users can create a dedicated account where they can access and manage the download queue for selected media profiles and view a history of downloads for repeat tasks. An easy-to-use search function makes it simple to navigate the extensive platform and find the right media profile for the task.

Building on the 14,000-plus media profiles already in the database, the free resource will continue to be updated with new profiles that incorporate different media types, enabling users to generate the best quality output as well as minimising the risk of false prints, OKI continues.

Renowned for its media flexibility, OKI’s wide-format ColorPainter portfolio delivers high-quality creative printing that meets the diverse requirements of the outdoor signage and indoor graphics industries, combining fast print speeds with superior image quality, the company says.

The award-winning ColorPainter portfolio includes: the fast, high-volume professional graphics ColorPainter H3-104s; the versatile, high-density and high durability ColorPainter M-64s; and the newest device in the series, the ColorPainter E-64s, providing premium performance, high levels of precision and amazing ease-of-use, while fully supporting entry-level environmentally-friendly printing, the company says.

Fully equipped for indoor and outdoor media use, the company adds that the ColorPainter portfolio is specifically designed to overcome common environmental, quality and media flexibility barriers, enabling businesses to create a wide range of products including billboard banners and posters, technical textiles, vehicle and building wraps, backlit signage and floor graphics. Furthermore, they can create many interior decoration applications like wallpaper, oil-paint replicas, real photo reprints, window shades, and a lot more, OKI says.

Augmented reality app

OKI Europe is a division of OKI Data Corporation, a global business-to-business organisation dedicated to creating professional in-house printed communications products, applications and services designed to increase the efficiency of today’s and tomorrow’s businesses.

Earlier this year, in October, OKI Europe launched its new smartphone app, the OKI AR Showroom at VISCOM Italia in Milan. This innovation enables customers to visualise OKI’s devices as well as high impact visual communications materials in their own environments through the use of Augmented Reality (AR), says the company.

Designed for retailers, the app is free to use and language agnostic, ensuring retailers in any country can benefit from it. AR technology projects images onto the screen of a smartphone or tablet when the device is in camera mode. With AR, in the retail market, forecast to be worth almost US$8,000 million by 2023 – according to ResearchAndMarkets.com – the technology is rapidly being adopted by retailers to provide an immersive, real-time, in-store experience for consumers who no longer have to leave their home or workplace.

With the app, users can visualise how OKI’s range of High Definition Colour printers and multifunction printers, combined with ad hoc state-of-the-art software platforms, will fit within their own work environments by aiming their camera at a desk or work surface and selecting an OKI device from the screen, the company adds.

Javier López, general manager, Vertical Solutions, OKI Europe, says: “Our new AR Showroom app is another industry-first, helping businesses understand how OKI printers can print on an amazingly wide range of media types and sizes, including film, waterproof, magnetic and pre-cut media. Additionally, customers can print in large format, up to 1.3m in duplex for highly-impactful hanging banners to engage customers and drive sales. The app will enable retailers to open up a world of print possibilities and understand that by bringing printing in-store they can become more creative and responsive to their visual communications needs.”
