Polyester filament yarn markets were range bound across Asia and prices generally rolled over despite firm feedstock cost. In China, local offers were mostly ranged bound in Jiangsu despite firm crude oil and upstream feedstock. Transactions were diverged between producers, seeing downstream mills on heavy wait-and-watch stance. In Shengze, producers rolled over the prices while, selling indications were negotiable. In Pakistan, trading atmosphere was dull after a long holiday break last week, and selling indications for DTYs were heard rolled over in Karachi market. However, a sharp fall in the PakRe pegged numbers down in US$ terms. In India, firm feedstock cost supported local POY sentiment and prices to remain stable. Downstream mills showed little interest and were on wait-and-watch stance expecting prices to fall in the near term.
In China, POY offers remained unchanged with 75/36 at US$1.16-1.17 a kg and 75/72 to US$1.17-1.19 a kg in Shengze. In India, POY offers rolled over, with 115/108 at INR100 a kg or US$1.44 a kg and 130/34 POY at INR92 a kg or US$1.33 a kg. In China, DTY prices were flat in Shengze with 75/36 at US$1.57-1.58 a kg and 75/72 intermingled at US$1.58-1.60 a kg. In Pakistan, 300/96 intermingled DTY were steady at PakRs112 a pound (US$1.58 a kg) for imported and local goods at PakRs111 per pound (US$1.57 a kg). Imported and local 150/48 intermingled DTY were at PakRs118 a pound (US$1.67 a kg). All quotes were down US cents 8-9 due to a sharp fall in PakRe. In China, FDY offers were steady, with 50/24 at US$1.31-1.32 a kg and 150/96 FDY at US$1.12-1.13 a kg.
Nylon
Nylon filament yarn prices were stable to down in Asian markets, as upstream caprolactam cost was stable at a low level, while nylon chip cost saw marginal change at due to mild downtrend. Nylon FDY prices turned insipid, given low chip costs and bearish demand. Nylon DTY prices softened, reflecting less active demand. Cord fabric prices were flat on the back of insipid demand from the tire sector, while monofilament prices declined sharply. Overall demand was flat to weak as warp knitting and covering mills operated at stable 60% run rates, while circular-knitting and lacing mills ran at 40% run rates. Going ahead, nylon yarn markets are likely to remain stable until buying interest at low-price and trade strengthens.
In China, offers for nylon FDY70D/24F SD rolled over at 16.00-16.50 Yuan a kg (US$2.32-2.39 a kg), while DTY70D offers dropped to 17.20-19.00 Yuan a kg (US$2.50-2.76 a kg, down US cents 4-7). Cord fabric 1,260D offers rolled over at 22.00-23.50 Yuan a kg (US$3.19-3.41 a kg) while mono filament 30D prices declined to 18.50-20.00-Yuan a kg (US$2.68-2.90 a kg, down US cents 7-14). In India, 20 SD filament prices rolled over this week at INR296 a kg (US$4.27 a kg) in the Surat market.
Viscose
Viscose filament yarn market sentiment weakened somewhat this week in China, with prices showing signs of easing. Producers continued to face heavy pressure from liquidity, resulting in piling inventories. Price-wise, offers for first-class, second-class and third-class VFY 120D rolled over, while actual transactions values were slightly lower. In India, prices remained unchanged on cost support, while demand was apparently stagnant. Overall, given soft demand, it is expected that viscose filament prices may move downwards somewhat in the coming weeks.
In China, viscose filament offers were steady across specs both in Yuan and US$ terms. 120D bright were at 39.00 Yuan a kg (US$5.66 a kg), and dull at 38.75 Yuan a kg (US$5.62 a kg). 300D bright prices were at 29.40 Yuan a kg (US$4.26 a kg) and dull at 25.90 Yuan a kg (US$3.76 a kg). In India, viscose filament prices rolled over in INR and US$ terms, with 100D bright VFY at INR388 a kg (US$5.60 a kg) and 450D at INR 225 a kg (US$3.25 a kg).
