Polyester

Polyester filament yarn prices moved up in China, rolled over in India and were adjusted in Pakistan this week. In China, offers were raised boosted by the surge of crude oil and PTA while trading atmosphere warmed up. However, as downstream run rates were lowering. Further strength of crude oil and PTA, pushed offers in Jiangsu up boosting trading atmosphere. On the other hand, availability of some specs was scarce due to low stocks. Later prices rolled over approaching the weekend. In Pakistan, prices were rolled over, offers for imported DTYs intermingled were adjusted lower, while local prices remained unchanged across specs. In India, POY offers were generally stable, with a dull trading atmosphere, since downstream mills and fabric makers purchased less with lackluster expectation.

In China, POY offers were hiked US cents 5 in Shengze with 75/72 at US$1.35-1.37 a kg and 75/36 to US$1.34-1.35 a kg. In India, POY offers rolled over in INR and US$ terms, with 115/108 at INR100 a kg or US$1.41 a kg and 130/34 POY at INR92 a kg or US$1.29 a kg. In China, DTY prices were lifted US cent 2 with 75/72 intermingled DTY prices at US$1.84-1.85 a kg and 75/36 at US$1.83-1.84 a kg in Shengze. In Pakistan, selling indications were stable for local goods with 300/96 DTY at PakRs111 a pound (US$1.75 a kg) and imported goods down PakRs2 at PakRs109 a pound (US$1.72 a kg, down US cents 4) while 150/48 DTY intermingled rolled over at PakRs117-118 a pound (US$1.84-1.86 a kg). In China, FDY offers jumped US cents 5 with 50/24 at US$1.53-1.55 a kg and 150/96 FDY to US$1.46-1.47 a kg.

Nylon

Nylon filament yarn prices generally rolled over in Asian markets this week with high end values for some spec rising in China. The stability is explained by the range bound caprolactam spot and contract values, while chip values partially retraced down from high‐end. Downstream textile producers operated at low run rates so there was still some demand for FDY, DTY and POY, but in small volume. Warp knitting mills and covering mills operated at 40% run rates, while circular knitting mills and lacing mills merely ran at 20% rate. Demand is expected to decline further with mills cutting operation, though there will be some replenishing. With suppliers trimming production for Lunar New Year holiday, yarn supply will remain tight, while most end‐users had already replenished. Thus, markets are expected to silent with the Lunar New Year holiday drawing closer in China.

In China, offers for nylon FDY70D/24F SD rose at the upper end to 18.20-19.00 Yuan a kg (US$2.68-2.80, up US cents 2), while DTY70D offers were unchanged at 19.50-21.00 Yuan a kg (US$2.87-3.09 a kg). Cord fabric 1,260D offers were steady at 22.50-24.00 Yuan a kg (US$3.31-3.53 a kg) and mono filament 30D prices stable at 20.50-21.50 Yuan a kg (US$3.02-3.16 a kg, up US cents 8). In India, 20 SD filament prices were steady on the week at INR296 a kg (US$4.16 a kg, down US cents 4 due to weak currency) in the Surat market.

Viscose

Viscose filament yarn markets were generally notional in China and India, amid softening trading atmosphere. In China, downstream converters had mostly suspended production and were on vacations but there were some replenishing activities, since transportation will gradually end from next week. Price-wise, offers for first-class, second-class and third-class VFY 120D were seen rolling over on the week. In India, viscose filament price remained unchanged this week, despite weakening demand. Going ahead, with holiday atmosphere increasing and logistic gradually halting from next week, viscose filament yarn prices are expected to remain stable until the Spring Festival holidays.

In China, offers for viscose filament 120D bright rolled over at 38.80 Yuan a kg (US$5.71 a kg), and dull at 38.45 Yuan a kg (US$5.66 a kg). 300D bright prices remained unchanged at 29.20 Yuan a kg (US$4.30 a kg) and dull at 25.70 Yuan a kg (US$3.78 a kg). All quotes were down US cents 2 due to weak Yuan. In India, VFY prices were flat both in INR US$ terms, with 100D bright VFY at INR388 a kg (US$5.46 a kg) and 450D at INR 225 a kg (US$3.16 a kg).
