Tollegno 1900, an Italian producer of fine yarns and high-quality fabrics, and Sandonini, an Italian company that rebuilds machinery, have teamed up to create ShoeSocks.
ShoeSocks is a two-in-one sock-shoe
ShoeSocks is a concept created by Sandonini. It is an innovative 3D footwear comprising of a two-in-one shoe-sock with a single shoe upper integrated with the sole with no seams. It is customisable with knit stitches, colours, styles and different models.
The shoe has been in Italian stores for a few months now and the two companies believe it is destined to become a ‘must-have’ in the forthcoming seasons.
“We are proud to have been chosen for this very innovative project because it allows us to show the strengths of our yarn in an unusual trendy product for wool, ideal in a market that is in constant evolution,” says Lincoln Germanetti, CEO of Tollegno 1900.
“The collaboration with Sandonini is a concrete example of our way of working – through collaborations with interesting partners where the creation and development of new items goes hand in hand with the search for new uses for our yarns.”
The ShoeSocks are knit in a single, three-dimensional piece and are ready to fit on to the form for the finishing process. Once completed, they are then attached to any type of sole.
The production time of the ShoeSocks is just three minutes and no waste is produced. Additionally, the ShoeSocks technology ensures that the number of processes required for the production of footwear is reduced.
The ShoeSocks are made with Tollegno 1990’s Harmony 4.0 yarn, which offers the maximum in terms of resistance, performance and water-repellent capacity, according to the company.
The idea of testing Harmony 4.0 on the ShoeSocks collection was born from the encounter between the creativity of Sandonini and the continuous research of Tollegno 1900.
“We decided to test the Harmony 4.0 yarn because it is a very high-performance wool,” adds Fiorenzo Sandonini, owner of the company.
“The yarn is created by a leader in its field as we are in the world of textile machines. Tollegno 1900 is a company constantly striving for innovation as we are, and we both have a great desire to experiment with new paths.”
