Twine solutions has confirmed that the official launch of its Thread Dyeing System will take place at this year’s ITMA exhibition which takes place at the Fira de Barcelona, Gran Via Barcelona, on 20-26 June.

Twine says its ‘innovative’ system digitally dyes raw and off-the-shelf white thread, from multiple manufacturers, for a variety of industry sectors including sewing, embroidery and knitting. Twine adds that the digitally-dyed thread can be used for a number of applications, such as apparel, activewear, shoes, accessories, home décor and even vehicle upholstery.

The capabilities of Twine’s digital thread dyeing system will be demonstrated live at the company’s booth (Hall 3, Stand C105). The technology will dye various thread types including thread produced by Coats, with whom Twine entered into a strategic partnership in November 2018.

The partnership will work towards developing new features for Twine’s technology, which could include inbuilt colour software integrated with Coats ColourStitch. Coats will also occupy a segment of Twine’s booth at ITMA in June in a bid to reinforce the partnership’s commitment to developing innovative technology for the textile industry, the partnership says.

Additionally, Twine will showcase its digital colour-matching mobile application at the world-leading textile machinery exhibition. The SnapMatch application simply captures an image of a sample using a mobile device. Twine’s proprietary algorithms then analyse the colour immediately and accurately, the company says. The user can send the captured colour to the TS-1800 system for immediate thread dyeing in the desired colour. Twine states that the entire solution is the world’s first digital dye-to-match process.

Twine’s products create a virtual inventory, the company continues, with any colour and any length needed, reducing stock management, inventory and deadstock costs. Twine’s sustainable digital waterless thread dyeing process also saves 70 litres of clean water per 1 kg of dyed thread. The process also reduces waste and air emissions.

Up to 50% of dyed thread is disposed of before being used in many textile industry sectors today. Twine’s system combats this by dyeing exactly the amount you need when you need it, in a highly-sustainable process, which helps to tackle an issue which has plagued the textile industry for decades and remains a topic high on the agenda at many leading textile industry events worldwide.

Alon Moshe, Twine CEO and co-founder, says: “Our Twine Digital Thread Dyeing system unleashes the power of thread at the touch of a button. The fast-paced digital transformation of the textile industry is challenging both for production and its environmental impact. We are excited to bring solutions that will have much needed and crucial economic, social and sustainability benefits.”
