The second South African mohair sale of the 2019 summer season took place on 5 March, with 105,013 kg on offer.
The clearance rate was 92%, with a highest price of R549.00 p/kg paid for a bale of 26 micron super style kid mohair.
Buyers competed actively for the good quality mohair on offer, with individual clips achieving excellent results.
The market gained 2% from the previous sale to close on R283.90 p/kg, largely due to a weaker SA currency and good demand on the day.
Compared to the previous sale, prices were as follows: Kids (summer) up 7.5%. Young goats (summer) up 3.2%. Fine adults up 3.7%. Strong adults down 1.6%. Average up 2%.
