WeaveUp, a software company focused on digital print room solutions and surface design customisation tools, has partnered with Continental to provide customisation software for skai Design Lab. Design Lab represents a new line of custom printed upholstery synthetics, allowing architects, interior designers and furniture manufacturers in Europe to customise thousands of designs on different base materials embossed with a choice of grain patterns, according to the company.

“We look to partner with industry leaders, companies in a position to appreciate and exploit the disruptive nature of the WeaveUp software platform. Continental is that kind of company,” says Flint Davis, president of WeaveUp. “[Continental’s] focus on innovation and passion for bringing customers new products makes it a perfect fit. The flexibility of the skai Design Lab means its customers won’t have to settle when specifying materials for their next contract interior.”

Bruno Lehmann, responsible for interior surface materials at Continental, says: “WeaveUp’s innovative technology allows us to provide customised upholstery synthetics to our clients at a time when customization and unique design solutions is growing in importance. skai Design Lab means that our customers can choose the design, scale, colourway and base material they want. It’s a natural extension of the way we’ve been using digital printing, but now, getting a custom solution is faster, easier and the customer has complete control.”

WeaveUp says its software platform helps clients fully leverage digital textile printing opportunities including rapid product prototyping, sampling and print-on-demand in a production environment. The platform is colour accurate, easy to use, flexible and fast. Customisation and sampling can be done in minutes instead of weeks, inventory can be reduced or in some cases eliminated. WeaveUp is the first industrial-strength, modular, end-to-end digital textile solution, the company continues.

Some of WeaveUp’s other global, industry-leading clients in window coverings, fabric and wallpaper include Budget Blinds, Koroseal Interior Products, Valley Forge Fabrics, Materialised and JOANN.

JOANN launched MyFabric, powered by WeaveUp software, in December 2018 to allow customers to show their personal style through completely customised fabric creation. The programme offers customers unprecedented design control and product quality, the company says.
